Our Patriots
“Patriots” were those who resided in the thirteen colonies and rejected British rule. They were from every social, economic, and ethnic background. Lawyers, students, planters, merchants, farmers, slaves, and freemen were among those who fought for independence.
Patriots served in many different capacities, including patriotic and civil service, not just on the battlefield or at sea. Patriots included those who served in civic capacities as town clerk, selectman, constable, or surveyor of highways. Patriotic service also included signing an Oath of Allegiance or paying taxes to support the cause.
Listed below are the names and states of the ancestors of the General Davie, NSDAR, members. This list includes Patriots of the American Revolutionary War and ancestors who contributed to the cause for independence through civil or patriotic service.
For a list acceptable services, see the Accepted Revolutionary War Service webpage for more information.
